happy 2012, people! as a new year’s treat, i am writing what has now basically become my bi-annual blog entry. i’ve stopped living in denial that i will ever become a frequent blogger, but some kind of account of my life is better than none i suppose! and what better time to record life’s happenings than the beginning of a brand new year. especially since this year could be our last, what with the world ending on december 21st and all. (i half way believe that this is real)
rather than listing all of my new year’s resolutions for all of you to read, i wanted to look back on 2011 and share some major highlights that made it a great year.
- Rang in 2011 with D and some of our closest friends (most exciting part: had an excuse to wear my newly purchased solid sequin jacket

so much for the 30 day challenge.
in more exciting news…i will be laying on a beach just like this one in merely ONE WEEK.
i’ll be vacationing with D & Co. in beautiful Belize for 12 days!! couldn’t come at a better time…i’m tired of the rainy, freezing, miserable utah weather. get me outta here!!

this is me. now for 15 (semi-interesting) facts….
1-the young and the restless is my guilty pleasure. my obsession with it started when i was 12. i used to watch religiously every morning at 10 am during the summer. now i can only watch it on fridays (right now), yet somehow it’s always so easy to figure out what’s going on. it never changes.
2-i’ve never eaten a “wing.” you know, like a buffalo wing. wingcoop, wingnutz, etc. never. i have a few things i’ve never done and am now trying to keep them that way forever. never seeing avatar is also on this list.
3-i’m pretty good at spelling and grammar. proofreading is one of my favorite things to do.
4-i want to own an english bulldog someday. and i will.
5-i have a fear of deer. did you know, more human deaths are caused by deer than any other animal? true story. and it doesn’t surprise me one bit. they are cray cray.
6-my favorite movie of all time is “grease.” i have the entire thing memorized, word for word, and have since i was about 10. probably not the most appropriate lines for a child to repeat, but i don’t even care. my kids will grow up with it too.
7-i wish i would have gotten a different degree in college…i always wanted to go into journalism, but thought it was “unrealistic.” now i’m wishing i would have tried.
8-i once met bret michaels. rc and i went on his tour bus and sat on his lap for a picture. rock of love, baby. my only other celebrity encounter was with fabio in las vegas.
9-the fourth of july is by far my favorite holiday. i love everything about it. fireworks, bbq’s, warm weather, red, white & blue. and i get weirdly emotional every time i hear “proud to be an american.” i guess i’m a patriot, what can i say?
10-i am an only child. i am constantly asked how i like it. it’s hard to say, since i don’t know any different. but i do always wonder what a brother would look like if i had one. that’s about as far as it goes.
11-i’ve never been to lake powell. this is definitely NOT on my list of things i’m trying not to do. it’s even more absurd that i am from price, which is directly on the way to lake powell. it’s not far from there, and i’ve still never been. if anyone is going, please take me. seriously.
12-i love murder mystery tv shows and wedding tv shows. opposite ends of the spectrum, yes. but i’ve been known to stay home on a friday night to watch a say yes to the dress marathon or an interesting dateline investigation.
13-i went on a cruise once and hated it. vowed to never do that again.
14-my favorite color is gold.
15-i absolutely despise the following places and will do anything i can to get out of going there with my mother: home depot, lowe’s, and the quilted bear.

i work with two girls from germany. needless to say, i’ve been introduced to a wide variety of german treats and delicacies. we do the occasional lunch at siegfried’s german deli downtown, where i fell in love with boiled red cabbage and spaetzle. last week i went all out and ordered bratwurst too. amazing. i have to say, however, the best introduction i’ve had so far has been:
these little yogurt-filled chocolates are HEAVENLY. i’ve already eaten 3 at work today, and i may or may not be making an order from eurofoodmart.com…..don’t judge me.
anonymous.
S gave me a cute little painting with this quote on it for my birthday…i’ve always loved it but i feel like is is especially appropriate in my life right now. so glad i took the time to read it this morning.
